Why I Do This Work: A Moment That Reminded Me Why Senior Care Matters
Every once in a while, something happens that reminds me exactly why I’m in the senior care business. This weekend, I sat with a 90-year-old woman who was trying to find assisted living for her husband. She was overwhelmed. Tired. Quietly afraid. And she didn’t really have anyone else to lean on.
We toured options, talked through her concerns, and reviewed what life might look like for both of them. Even if the placement doesn’t work out, the chance to show up for her felt meaningful.
Afterward, I gave her a 30-minute tutorial on her new cell phone — something simple, but in that moment, something she deeply needed. It reminded me how many older adults are navigating these huge transitions alone. And how many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and family friends are suddenly stepping into caregiving roles without a roadmap.
They’re doing their best.
They’re trying to make the right decisions.
But they often don’t know where to start.
That’s exactly why this channel — and my work — exists.
Why Families Need Guidance More Than Ever
Across San Luis Obispo County, families are dealing with:
- Rising care needs
- Confusion about assisted living vs. memory care
- Safety issues at home
- Falls, forgetfulness, medication concerns
- Caregiver burnout
- Loved ones declining faster than expected
Most people don’t realize how complex senior care becomes until they’re in it. Suddenly, you need answers — now.
And that’s where trusted, local support makes all the difference.

Families Need More Than Information — They Need a Guide
Senior care isn’t a straightforward path. It’s emotional, complicated, and often overwhelming. What most people really need is:
- Reassurance
- Clarity about their options
- Someone who has walked this path hundreds of times
- A real human who cares
That’s the heart of this work.
And it’s why I’m here.
